Blue and green are rare colors for shells (and rare across life in general). A new study finds blue shells may be due to carotenoid pigments, while green is due to structural coloration! https:// www.nature.com/articles/s41598-026-61670-9 #clamFacts

Wait didn't we get the husband side of this a couple of months back?

Let me explain an important contextual detail:
During the 15M movement, we also considered going on strike, but the youth unemployment rate was so high that it wouldn’t have had much of an impact.
Now young people are in work; the problem is that they can’t afford the rent.
So a general strike would indeed bring the country to a standstill.

In 10 days, people have gone from showing solidarity with other vulnerable people to realising that the housing crisis affects them too.
And they have begun to understand the key players and the mechanisms of their oppression.
It is a shift in mindset that will be difficult to reverse

To begin with, these protests are demonstrating how street protests have the power to bring about radical change. For example, getting a bill debated in parliament in less than a week.
But also in public debate, by framing concepts such as ‘tenants’ union’ and ‘rent strike’ as desirable futures, and ‘vulture funds’ and ‘rentiers’ as undesirable realities.

In Spain, the rain is falling, and our hearts are burning.
In ten days the situation in our country has changed sharply.
After decades of suffering housing problems, the eviction of a elderly woman, #MariCarmen, cause a wave of outrage and hope which took the form of a huge protest camp in Sol, and spread to other squares across Spain
We, the protesters, are calling for a law to to regulate the housing situation and speculation
The vote is today

Needed to put up a shelf and instead of asking hubby I tried to do it myself with YouTube. Went to the shed to pick up the spirit level I've seen him use, and the shed has twelve loaves of pumpernickel bread and a toaster. And this is how I find out he's a bread fetishist.
So grateful I get to include this comic in my book as a way of saying thanks ❤️ https://kickstarter.com/projects/mrlovenstein/mr-lovenstein-presents-fun
RECRUITING! Are any of my network on here (or in yours!) #React Native developers, but like, as your main? ie, not I *could* do that but like, that's my bag and I've done it 5+ years? 6 mth contract incoming from one of my ongoing political clients. The focus will be on modernising and strengthening the existing application they've built vs building new features. It's pretty important stuff so I'm looking for strong senior vs it's in my wheelhouse.

@d1 yep. "fast" is a value for those who optimize numbers, not the well-being of people. it is used to standardize in industrial logic, to make things like products, predictable, and people and their jobs replaceable.
I think beyond the science-fiction rationale, the promises of sentient "buddies" or whatevers, beyond the fascination for the tool, etc. it is all about "good'ol" industrial logic to get rid of creativity, unpredictability, reduce "the human factor" to numbers and turn everything into profit to dominate, accumulate and sell, sell, sell....
@jz 💯
the gender imbalance, lack of unionisation and the "labour aristocracy" position of tech workers are imho some of the fundamental reasons to "how did we end up here?"
many so-called hackers finished with a liberal worldview which above all upholds the system of domination as a bottom line
the llm bias/addictions, endless bdfl organised projects, permissive licenses, rejection of CoCs and apolitical "its a tool" positions are symptoms that are so amplified now...
Some morning musings on AI. We need to stop talking about this as technology issue. It's an ethics & law enforcement issue. Thread:
Even 1 second late can be fatal!!
@bsdphk they're trying to force everyone to run a recent version by flooding the CVE list to work around corporate policies that don't let you run older versions with CVEs.
Rather than actually doing the legwork to evaluate which bugs might have a security impact at all, which of those are reachable in your environment, and then updating iff there is an actual risk
Good news! Another common reason for having to run relayd or nginx in front of OpenBSD httpd(8) has been eliminated.
#OpenBSD httpd(8) now supports new block and drop rules for filtering HTTP requests based on header values!
rsadowski@ modified src/usr.sbin/httpd/*: httpd: add header block/drop rules for request filtering
With this incoming requests can also be rejected based on the value of a request header. Valid options are:
header block name value code [arg]
Close the connection with an error response when a request header matches. Both name and value are shell-style patterns and are matched case-insensitively against the header name and value. code must be a valid HTTP status code. For codes in the 3xx range, arg is required and sent as the "Location" header. It must start with "http://" or "https://". For all other codes, arg is optional and used as the log message identifying the rule.header drop name value
Silently close the connection without sending a response
when a request header matches, using the same pattern rules as block.Based on a diff from Purple Rain from SecBSD, who wrote a initial version to block Ai- and other Scraper. Also requested and tested by Mischa.
Tested by Purple Rain, Mischa and others, thanks
Feedback by Lloyd, Christian Schulte, thanks

Context (and configuration examples) can be found in the initial discussion on tech@: https://marc.info/?l=openbsd-tech&m=178999929723078&w=2
This follows support added for custom HTTP response headers back in July.

@MarloesdeKoning En een belangrijke stap. 👍️
@rooster Hearing “carbon footprint” always makes me think of this:
In case you were unaware, the idea of an individual "carbon footprint" was popularized by a 2005 advertising campaign paid for by BP
